www.SearchEngineWatch.com THE MUST-READ SITE for search engine information. Tracks the happenings in all the major web search engines and directories and gives you advice on how to optimize your site for best placement. Not just a site on marketing, it gets into the technology, the politics, and the positioning. Getting your site optimal search engine ranking is a very inexact art and a science, and must be constantly monitored to ensure customers can actually find your site.  To access the best resources, you need to be a paid member, but it's worth it for the insider info and advice.

www.SEOChat.com SEO Chat has great information on making your site natively search-friendly, before you even start the paid placements. • www.submit-it.com or http://www.linkexchange.com. Submit It is the all-in-one site to submit your site to get listed in the various search engines and web directories. Since there's no such thing as a free lunch anymore, Submit It charges for most of its services, but still gives a Free Trial Subscription to let you list your site in only the major engines like AltaVista, Excite, Lycos. Look for the Free subscription link in tiny letters. Their recommendations on Meta Tags and Yahoo! submission are very helpful.

PAID SEARCH MARKETING PROVIDERS

NOTE: Many major and minor search engines and directories use other providers' technology to keep their listings current. To keep track of which search engine marketing technology feeds the other search engines, read the chart on this page: http://searchenginewatch.com/reports/article.php/2156401
